Celebrating Families at the Denver Zoo

We're proud to be one of only three programs in the metro Denver area that offer SafeCare, a home visitation program for parents and caregivers with kids under five.

A few days ago, families and staff came together at the Denver Zoo for a SafeCare-sponsored breakfast, face-painting, and a day at the zoo. Spending quality time uninterrupted with your kids strengthens your relationship and can help reduce challenging behaviors.

Remember, It isn't about how much time you spend with your kids. At the end of the day, it's about how you spend that time.

SafeCare families were able to take a day to spend that precious quality time with their kids.

What is SafeCare?

It's a flexible, free, and voluntary parent support program to help parents and caregivers of children ages five and under learn ways to keep their children healthy, safe, and happy.

Parent support providers help build on existing skills in the areas of parent-child interactions, home safety and child health. Families set goals to:

  • Reduce challenging child behaviors

  • Increase positive time with their child

  • Remove common household safety hazards

  • Identify and respond to common child sicknesses or injuries.

  • Engage their child in simple activities
